One of the best ways to prepare for a career after graduation is to begin forming professional connections through involvement in scientific societies or internships. Networking doesn't need to be intimidating, it can be as simple as talking with someone who shares your scientific interests. A professional society is simply a group of individuals who have similar interests, and many societies have regional meetings that encourage student involvement. Internships are a great way to get experience and exposure to individuals who are working in a particular area.
