Graduate Study
Most graduate students are supported by teaching assistantships, for up to a maximum of six quarters. For other sources of financial aid (generally loans) contact the Financial Aid office directly.
Financial Assistance for Research
The Biology department has limited funds to support thesis research by Biology students. For the 2005-2006 year $250 per student is available for research expenses. The steps to apply for the funds are explained in the Graduate Student Handbook. There is also limited funding available for student travel to scientific meetings.

Office of Research and Sponsored Programs
The BFR offers grants up to $1,000 from the Fund for the Enhancement of Graduate Research. Details can be found at the RSP website. The grant received from BFR can potentially be matched up to $250 by applying to the matching fund- Biology Chair Research Funds. The form for this funding are available in the Biology Department Office.
NSF - GK-12 Program
This NSF-funded fellowship enables Biology graduate students at WWU to serve as resources for the science curriculum in K-12 schools. For application materials and further information about this fellowship, visit WWU's GK-12 website.
